Estimate Punjab take-home pay using India’s New Tax Regime (FY 2025-26 / AY 2026-27), including a simplified EPF employee contribution and professional tax estimate where applicable.

Punjab salaried employees typically see TDS under the New Tax Regime by default, plus EPF and sometimes professional tax.

Old Regime (with §80C) and surcharge above ₹50 lakh are supported as simplified estimates. Full HRA exemption math is still omitted — treat results as directional.

New Tax Regime (default)

Slabs start with nil tax up to ₹4 lakh of taxable income, then 5%–30% bands. A ₹75,000 standard deduction applies for salaried income. Section 87A can zero tax when taxable income is within the rebate limit; surcharge may apply above ₹50 lakh, then 4% cess.

EPF and professional tax

Employee EPF is estimated at 12% of an assumed basic (40% of gross) unless you enter exact pre-tax deductions. Professional tax is a simplified state estimate and may be ₹0 in some states/UTs.

Punjab note

Frequently asked questions

Is the Old Tax Regime supported?

Yes — switch to Old Regime in the calculator. It uses simplified slabs, ₹50,000 standard deduction, and optional §80C (HRA not fully modeled).

When does surcharge apply?

When total income exceeds ₹50 lakh. Rates step up at ₹1 crore / ₹2 crore / ₹5 crore (New Regime surcharge is capped at 25%).

Why is EPF estimated?

EPF depends on basic wages. We assume basic ≈ 40% of gross at 12% employee contribution unless you override via Pre-tax deductions. New Regime does not reduce taxable income by EPF.

Does Punjab charge professional tax?

Some states do. This tool applies a simplified estimate; your stub may differ.

Are these results official?

No. Educational estimates only — verify with payroll or a tax professional.
